Oyster River Winegrowers, founded in 2007, is a farm winery and cidery in Warren, Maine. While they use both sourced fruit from the Northeast, in addition to their own, their vineyards and orchards are managed with organic farming methods. Winemaker Brian Smith trained at Fresno State University and uses a low-intervention approach where he says he serves as “nature’s assistant.” ORW focuses on American hybrid grape varietals such as LaCrescent, Vidal Blanc, L’Acadie Blanc, Marquette, Sabrevois, and St. Croix, while maintaining small plots of Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Pinot Blanc. For the first ten years, they cultivated their plots using draft horses but eventually switched to using machinery to manage the demand.
Aromas and notes of fresh-pressed apple cider with green, savory herbs on the finish. Light and fresh with a pleasing bubble.
