From the importer: “On June 18 of 1549, Michelangelo Buonarroti, known best for his sculpture of David and painting the Sistine Chapel, acquired Podere Casanova in Castellina in Chianti. Further records indicate that wine from this estate was sent to the renaissance artist’s Florence residence in 1551! The estate remained in the hands of the Buonarroti family until 1863. Fast forward to 1926, following some ups and downs, the Bucciarelli family of sharecroppers settled on the property, tending to its vines, olive groves, and cultivating cereals. With the agrarian reform, the Bucciarelli family finally purchased the estate in 1982, and since 1986 has been bottling Chianti Classico according to their own vision: 100% Sangiovese, limited production, certified organic in the EU, spontaneous fermentation and aging in cement and cask.
Highly aromatic with notes of bright lemon, ripe cherries and an earthy, grippy finish. Aged in Tuscan oak casks.
