After working at Cia de Vinos Telmo Rodriguez, Juan Antonio Ponce
returned home to Manchuela to start Bodegas Ponce in 2005. He and his father, who owned land in Manchuela and came from a winemaking family, decided to partner to create Bodegas Ponce. Juan was just 23 years old when he produced the 11 barrels of wine that made up his first vintage. Fifteen years later, Ponce is deeply committed to Manchuela and its indigenous grapes. He specializes in remango and clarete (whole cluster, stem on) fermentations of bobal, the region’s popular red-skinned grape.

Earthy dark red fruit - cherry, strawberry - with notes of clove and spice and an intense violet florality. Very vibrant and electric on the palate with a firm spicy finish.
